DraftKings MLB: Game 6 World Series Breakdowns

DraftKings MLB: Game 6 World Series Breakdowns

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

Tuesday's MLB slate, which could be the last one of the season, consists of the World Series Game 6 single-game Showdown contest between the Rays and Dodgers at 8:08 p.m. EDT. Los Angeles leads the series 3-2, but the Game 6 pitching matchup plays in the Rays' favor as Tampa Bay looks to erase a one-game deficit for the third time in this series.

Captain Picks

Blake Snell, TB vs. LAD ($11,000) Captain ($16,500): The Rays have often limited Snell's pitch counts in an effort to keep the oft-injured 2018 AL Cy Young Award winner healthy, but manager Kevin Cash will likely lengthen Snell's leash with the season on the line if he's mowing down Dodgers like he did in Game 2. The lefty struck out nine Dodgers over 4.2 innings last Wednesday, with all the damage against him coming on a two-run Chris Taylor home run. With a career 29.2 percent strikeout rate, Snell's primed for further success against the lefty-laden Los Angeles lineup. He's easily the stronger pitching option compared to Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin ($10,400), who has allowed eight earned runs in 7.2 innings this postseason.

Justin Turner, LAD vs. TB ($8,800), Captain ($13,200): Turner's 8-for-22 (.364) with two home runs and four doubles over this series' first five games, and he's primed to keep rolling in Game 6. The right-handed slugger will have the platoon advantage against Snell and is likely to capitalize on that edge, as Turner has a wOBA over .400 against lefties since the start of the 2017 season. Despite his combination of recent heroics and established success against southpaws, Turner comes in cheaper than five other Dodgers and two Rays, so using him as your Captain frees up some potentially valuable salary for the remainder of your lineup.

Utility Plays

Randy Arozarena, TB vs. LAD ($9,600): His totals have been boosted by division winners playing an unprecedented wild-card round series this postseason instead of going straight to the divisional series, but Arozarena's league-record totals for hits (27) and home runs (nine) in one postseason are nonetheless impressive. Tampa Bay's most dangerous hitter sports a .370/.439/.808 line this postseason, with 18 runs and 13 RBI in 19 games.

Corey Seager, LAD vs. TB ($10,200): Seager's the leading candidate to win World Series MVP, slashing .471/.609/.824 while averaging 15.4 fantasy points per game. That success represents a continuation of a tremendous postseason for the Dodgers' shortstop and two-hole hitter, as Seager's slashing .344/.434/.781 through 17 games during this playoff run. Despite the difficulty of the lefty-on-lefty matchup against Snell, Seager's recent success makes him worth locking in.

Key Values

Kevin Kiermaier, TB vs. LAD ($5,400): Kiermaier is a terrific cheap lineup filler, as Tampa Bay's center fielder has complemented his outstanding defense with a .375/.412/.750 line in this series. With four multi-hit performances and three home runs in his last six games, Kiermaier has heated up at the perfect time, yet he remains extremely affordable.

Chris Taylor, LAD vs. TB ($7,800): Taylor took Snell deep in Game 2, and he's the cheapest right-handed bat in the Dodgers lineup that's likely to play the full game. While A.J. Pollock ($7,200) and Enrique Hernandez ($6,000) might both be in the starting lineup as well, they're likely to be removed as the Rays begin to mix and match with their deep bullpen, while Taylor's defensive flexibility should keep his bat in the lineup all game.
