Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (check out our Closer Grid with the link to the left).
Baltimore – Jim Johnson was hurt by an error, but he blew Saturday's save against the Tigers. No chance in job security here.
Houston – Brett Myers failed to retire a batter and allowed three hits in a row as the Giants got a walk-off win off him in the bottom of the 12th on Saturday.
Los Angeles Angels – Ernesto Frieri struggled Sunday, maybe for the first time this season. He retired none and allowed three runs in a non-save situation before being lifted. Scott Downs allowed three runners but got two outs. Finally, the Angels called on Kevin Jepsen to shut the door by retiring Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez popped out as Jepsen earned his second career save.
Miami– It's a closer by committee on South Beach and Steve Cishek got the chance to close Saturday. He retired five batters, allowed a hit and struck out three.
San Francisco – Santiago Casilla blew Saturday's save, but one of the runs was unearned. He came back to notch Sunday's save.
Toronto – With Casey Janssen being called up Friday and Saturday, the Blue Jays let Darren Oliver earn a two innings save on Sunday. The Jays likely just wanted to rest Janssen.

Recommended Pickup
Adam Lind, 1B, TOR – It's no secret that 2009 was a career year for Lind. It got so bad for him that he was optioned in May after hitting .186 over the first month and a half of the season. That move has done Lind some good, as he has gone on a tear since being promoted on June 25. The season average of .232 is not sexy, but Lind has hit .340 with a 1.029 OPS since he was summoned back to the Blue Jays.
Other Recent Recommendations:Ben Sheets, Brandon Moss, Lorenzo Cain, Justin Ruggiano, Tyler Colvin
