How does Mike Siani compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Potential chance to start?
Starting center fielder Dylan Carlson suffered a shoulder injury Monday, per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which could open up starts for Siani early in the season.
ANALYSIS
Carlson was only penciled in as the starter since Tommy Edman is beginning the season on the injured list with a wrist issue, and Siani ended up earning a spot on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder. Siani has just 17 big-league games under his belt and never enjoyed notable offensive success in the minors, so the Cardinals may be more likely to turn to prospect Victor Scott. Even if Siani isn't a lineup regular, more opportunities will still likely be in store if Carlson misses time, especially since Lars Nootbaar is also out with a rib injury.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
It took $2 million to get Siani to rescind his commitment to Virginia, almost four times the recommended slot value of the 109th overall pick in last year's draft. The early returns on the investment were strong for Cincinnati, with Siani handling himself just fine offensively (98 wRC+) in the Appy League. He just needs to be close to average from the left side of the plate in order to make it long term, as his defense in center field and throwing arm are both plus. If he can hit enough to maintain a starting role in the major leagues, Siani should be able to swipe 20-plus bases pretty easily. He's a long ways off at 19 and power is not a big part of this equation, though there's always hope that Great American Ball Park will help in that regard. Either way, Siani has the skills base to be worth rostering in deeper dynasty leagues in 2019.
