DFS College Basketball: Sunday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Sunday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Sunday brings a ten game slate on DraftKings, hosting their $12 Heating Up Contest with $10K up for grabs including $2K to first. FanDuel has its own five game slate, with all the games overlapping the main slate on DraftKings. The slate features five teams in the AP top-25, including a BIG10 matchup between No. 24 Iowa and No. 20 Illinois. Let's get on to the action.

Top Players

Johnny Davis, G/F, Wisconsin ($9,000 DK, $8,000 FD)

The Badgers are peaking at the right time after just beating Purdue for the second time this season. They face Nebraska Sunday in what should be as easy of a win as it gets in the BIG10. Wisconsin has the highest implied point total of 80.75 and are 13-point favorites. This leads to solid value for multiple Badgers. Davis is a great player to build lineups around, given he is one of the top players in the country and he's actually cheaper than most of the other elite options on the slate. He hasn't had to carry the Badgers as much recently, which is why his stats haven't been as dominant lately, but he's in a favorable matchup. The sophomore still has a 30 percent usage rate in the last 10 games while averaging 18 points and 9.6 rebounds.

Tyler Wahl, F ($7,100 DK, $6,000 FD)

Wahl is the main reason why Davis hasn't had to carry Wisconsin. He has has made major improvements on both sides of the court this season. The junior doesn't have as high up a ceiling as Davis, but he consistently produces solid games. He has scored in double digits in nine of his last 10 games, including a double-double against Minnesota. In his most recent game against Purdue, he posted 38.5 DK points, with 19 points, two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and five steals. He trails only Davis on the team for usage rate, points and rebounds.

Middle Tier

Michael Weathers, G/F, SMU ($6,800 DK)

Weathers' last month has been his best month of basketball by far this season. The Mustangs are very top-heavy, as almost all of their damage offensively comes from four guys. Any one of these four are capable of producing massive games, and Weathers comes at a nice discount compared to his teammates. He has scored in double digits in six of his last seven games. In his most recent game against Cincinnati, he posted 43.3 DK points with a double-double, returning over 6x value. In addition, SMU has one of the highest implied point total Sunday at 77.75. There will be plenty of scoring to go around in this game and someone from SMU is likely to push their ceiling.

Jamison Battle, F, Minnesota ($6,800 DK)

Battle is another mid-range player that has recently stepped up. He's surpassed Payton Willis ($7,500) as the top offensive option on the team. Over the last 10 games, he leads Minnesota with a 26.6 percent usage rate and is first in points (16.9) and rebounds (6.0). In their first meeting against Northwestern, Battle posted 45.5 DK points, with 21 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. In their recent loss to Maryland, he took took a massive 31 field goal attempts and 16 three pointers. He scored 39 points in route to 51.5 DK points. Somehow, his salary dropped $400 since that performance.

Value Plays

Damian Dunn, G/F, Temple ($5,800 DK)

Dunn is at his cheapest salary of the season due to the fact that he's missed some games in February and he wasn't as efficient in his most recent contests. However, his price has come down so he's less risky, but it's not guaranteed that he will be starting. The good news is that he has the highest usage rate (2.6 percent) in Temple's last 10 games. Even when he's come off the bench, he's scoring in double digits. Many players from the Owls got priced down after they got obliterated by Houston, so there is some value to be had on this team.

Emmanuel Bandoumel, G/F, SMU ($5,500 DK)

As mentioned before, there are four players on SMU that can have a massive game at any time. Bandoumel is the cheapest play of those four. Although the chance of him going big is likely less than the Weathers brothers or Kendric Davis ($8,500), he scores consistently for having a cheap salary. As this price range, it's smart to target players that are still on the court to have opportunities to fill the stat sheet. Bandoumel is averaging 34.2 minutes, 10.8 points and 4.2 rebounds over the last 10 games. He scored 30.8 DK points in their first meeting against Tulsa, and he is coming off a double-double where he posted 33.5 DK points against Cincinnati.
