The Saints signed Mond on Friday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mond was a third-round pick by the Vikings in 2021 and appeared in one game as a rookie, going 2-for-3 for five yards. He was cut prior to the 2022 campaign and spent his second season as a backup in Cleveland. He then joined the Colts' practice squad last October. Mond needs to start putting some good tape together if he's going to stick in the NFL. He'll slide in behind Derek Carr, Nathan Peterman and Jake Haener on the Saints' depth chart.

Potential trade candidate
QBCleveland Browns
July 2, 2023
Zac Jackson of The Athletic projects Mond to miss out on making Cleveland's 53-man roster and believes the Browns could try to trade him prior to the season.
ANALYSIS
Joshua Dobbs is the frontrunner to claim the backup spot behind Deshaun Watson, while rookie fifth-round pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson has bumped Mond as Cleveland's top developmental quarterback of the future. Both Mond and Thompson-Robinson should get plenty of playing time in the preseason, but Mond, a 2020 third-round pick of the Vikings, will likely wind up on Cleveland's practice squad or get traded once the team cuts its roster down to 53 players for the season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
The Vikings selected Mond in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 66th overall, and he spent most of his rookie season as the team's third-string quarterback. At 6-foot-3, 211 pounds, he has the arm strength and athleticism (4.62-second 40-yard dash) to offer real dual-threat potential, but he had an uneven preseason last summer. Mond will try to unseat Sean Mannion for the backup role to Kirk Cousins in training camp.
Mond is an interesting developmental prospect who the Vikings took in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Although his tape and production are uneven at times, Mond (6-3, 211) is toolsy in terms of arm talent and athleticism (4.62 40-yard dash), so he offers dual-threat potential after being a four-year starter at Texas A&M. Mond is expected to serve as the backup to Kirk Cousins.
