Quickly finished in Austin
FeatherweightUFC
June 18, 2022
Chavez lost to Ricardo Ramos via KO (spinning elbow) at 1:12 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Austin, Texas.
ANALYSIS
Chavez had never been knocked out in 16 professional fights prior to this one, but all it took was one perfectly-placed spinning elbow from Ramos to close the show here. Chavez never had a chance of surviving once the elbow landed, but referee Mike Beltran was a bit out of position and Chavez was forced to absorb a handful of additional strikes before Beltran could call it off. Now 35 years of age, Chavez began his UFC run with a unanimous decision win over TJ Brown in August 2020, but is without a victory (0-2-1) in three fights since. Chavez will be fighting for his job his next time out.

May 16, 2022
Chavez will face Ricardo Ramos at UFC Austin on June 18, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chavez's most recent fight against Kai Kamaka on Jul 31, 2021, ended in a draw. The 35-year-old featherweight has amassed a 11-4-1 record in the UFC, and he will look to bounce back into the scene against Ramos.
Fortunate to leave with draw
FeatherweightUFC
July 31, 2021
Chavez and Kai Kamaka fought to a majority draw (27-29, 28-28, 28-28) at UFC on ESPN 28 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
All things considered, Chavez should be quite thrilled with his draw. Both men had their moments in what was a back and forth fight, but Chavez would have dropped a majority decision had Kamaka not (correctly) been docked a point by referee Herb Dean in Round 2 for repeated low blows. Our exposure to Chavez consists of all of three UFC bouts, but he's 34 years of age and didn't have much helium up his company arrival back in August 2020. The Florida native has managed a win, loss, and draw, in that order, in those previously mentioned three fights.

Lacks opponent for July 31 fight

July 17, 2021
Chavez will no longer fight Doo Ho Choi at UFC Vegas 33 on July 31 due to an undisclosed injury suffered by Choi, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Chavez was set to return from a six-month medical suspension that he was handed after suffering a right foot injury in his February loss to Jared Gordon. It's not yet clear if a replacement will be found for him to compete against July 31, or if the American will have to wait longer to get back into the octagon.
Set for July return

ANALYSIS
Chavez was handed a medical suspension after losing to Jared Goron in February, but he's now been cleared to return to the Octagon. Taking down Choi would allow Chavez to improve his UFC record to 2-1-0.
