Chavez and Kai Kamaka fought to a majority draw (27-29, 28-28, 28-28) at UFC on ESPN 28 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
All things considered, Chavez should be quite thrilled with his draw. Both men had their moments in what was a back and forth fight, but Chavez would have dropped a majority decision had Kamaka not (correctly) been docked a point by referee Herb Dean in Round 2 for repeated low blows. Our exposure to Chavez consists of all of three UFC bouts, but he's 34 years of age and didn't have much helium up his company arrival back in August 2020. The Florida native has managed a win, loss, and draw, in that order, in those previously mentioned three fights.

Chavez will no longer fight Doo Ho Choi at UFC Vegas 33 on July 31 due to an undisclosed injury suffered by Choi, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.

Chavez was set to return from a six-month medical suspension that he was handed after suffering a right foot injury in his February loss to Jared Gordon.
