Scheduled against Tavares again
Rodrigues will compete against Brad Tavares in a middleweight fight at the UFC's Feb. 10 event, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Back in September 2022, Rodrigues and Tavares were scheduled to fight at the UFC's first pay-per-view of 2023, UFC 283. However, Tavares withdrew for undisclosed reasons, and Rodrigues instead fought Brunno Ferreira and lost. Tavares earned a rematch with Rodrigues by defeating former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman. Rodrigues knocked out Denis Tiuliulin in the first round of their fight at UFC 292.

Seemingly entering with a more patient approach following his January knockout at the hands of Brunno Ferreira, Rodrigues still didn't take too long to execute his game plan here. He was able to take down Tiuliulin and take his back before landing several unanswered elbows that put his opponent out cold. The first elbow Rodrigues landed could easily have been interpreted as landing on the back of the head, but referee Bryan Miner didn't see it that way. Either way, Tiuliulin was put in a terrible position by Rodrigues, and the outcome seemed to be all but sealed. Rodrigues improves to 3-1 in his last four fights and 14-5 overall with the victory.
