Cappelozza lost to Vadim Nemkov via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:10 of Round 2 at the PFL vs. Bellator Champs Event in Saudi Arabia in February.
ANALYSIS
Cappelozza may have been preoccupied with the takedown threat, as he seemed to be the one retreating for most of the bout, allowing Nemkov to control standup exchanges with his jab. While there wasn't much of an attempt from Nemkov to take the fight to the ground in Round 1, Cappelozza was able to remain in a 50/50 position during clinch exchanges. This is until the Russian fighter secured a takedown in the second frame, quickly leading to the submission finish. Cappelozza will always be an exciting striker to watch, but he needs to clean up his issues on the ground, as three of his seven losses have come via submission. The Brazilian fighter moved to 15-7-0 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Rides strong start to $1 million

Cappelozza defeated Ante Delija via unanimous decision (49-45, 49-45, 48-46) at the PFL Championships on Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale.
ANALYSIS
Cappelozza came out and recorded a dominant first round that could have easily been called off, as he won the striking battle by a count of 88-5 in that frame. Delija caught a second wind in the next period and likely got the nod, but Cappelozza was able to outlast him as the fight wore on, throwing over 200 strikes in the battle. It took much longer than the 46-second finish he recorded against Delija at PFL 3 back on May 6, but Cappelozza will still cash the ticket as the betting favorite and take home a $1 million prize. He also recorded wins against Mo DeReese and Jamelle Jones en route to the championship victory.
