Has option picked up
The Bills will exercise Rousseau's 2025 fifth-year team option, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old was the 30th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and has 17.0 sacks through three seasons as a 46-game starter for Buffalo. Rousseau played a career-high 585 defensive snaps last season. The Bills need Rousseau, A.J. Epenesa and veteran Von Miller to key their pass rush in 2024 after notably adding only fifth-round rookie Javon Solomon off the edge and losing Leonard Floyd's 10.5 sacks in free agency.

Likely to have option picked up
General manager Brandon Beane recently said he anticipates that the Bills will pick up Rousseau's fifth-year option, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Beane noted that no official decision was made, and the Bills have until May 2 to exercise Rousseau's option. Rousseau has served in a rotational role along the team's defensive line, notching 17.0 career sacks across 46 games. If his option is ultimately exercised, he'll be in line to earn $13.4 million in 2025.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Rousseau had a strong second NFL season last year, doubling his sacks from his rookie campaign despite playing four fewer games. The 30th overall pick in 2021 puts the bull in bull rush with his 6-6, 266-pound frame, but his athleticism and football IQ make him more than just a one-dimensional threat, and he's benefited greatly from Von Miller's mentorship. Buffalo added Leonard Floyd in the offseason and could get more than 11 games out of Miller in 2023, but if Rousseau continues his development, he figures to lead the charge for one of the NFL's most talented pass rushes.
