76ers Topple Pistons, 109-98
The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Detroit Pistons, 109-98, at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night.

The 76ers (7-2) came into the contest with a serious personnel shortage, considering Ben Simmons (persona), Danny Green (hamstring), Tobias Harris (COVID-19 protocols) and Furkan Korkmaz (wrist) were all unavailable. The Pistons (1-7) looked like they'd potentially take advantage early, forging a three-point halftime lead with a well-played first half. However, Philadelphia began turning the tables in the third, outscoring Detroit by a 23-16 margin to take a narrow advantage into the final period. They quickly expanded that with an 11-0 run over the first 3:47 of the final period to pick up some important breathing room on the way to a relatively comfortable victory.

Seth Curry led the 76ers with 23 points, complementing them with two assists. Tyrese Maxey provided 20 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Joel Embiid provided 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal. Shake Milton turned in 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Georges Niang finished with 14 points, seven boards, two assists and one steal off the bench.

Jerami Grant paced the Pistons with 27 points, supplementing them with six boards, four assists, one steal and one block. Cade Cunningham generated an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double that also included four assists and one steal. Kelly Olynyk managed 11 points and five rebounds. Killian Hayes delivered 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.

The 76ers remain on the road and face the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night, while the Pistons remain home and host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.
