Raptors Stay Hot With Fifth Straight Win
The Toronto Raptors defeated the host Washington Wizards, 109-100, at Capital One Arena on Wednesday evening.

The contest got out to a tight start and was tied at 29, after one quarter. The Raptors picked up their play in the second and outscored the hosts, 30-19, to take an 11-point lead by halftime. They carried the momentum into the third and pushed their lead to 16 points early in the quarter, but the Wizards fought back to cut it to a nine-point game, heading into the final frame. The Wizards kept pressing to start the fourth and cut the deficit down to six, with four minutes left, but the Raptors closed strong to secure their fifth straight win and improve to 4-0 on the road.

Fred VanVleet led the way for the Raptors with 33 points, six assists, three rebounds, a steal and a block, in 43 minutes. OG Anunoby followed up with 21 points, five rebounds, three steals and a block, while Gary Trent Jr. and Svi Mykhailiuk chipped in 15 points each. The Raptors shot 47 percent from the field, including 10-of-25 from long range.

Meanwhile, Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 25 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block, in 39 minutes. Montrezl Harrell followed up with 15 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocks, while Raul Neto chipped in 14 points and four assists. The Wizards shot 44 percent from the field, including 8-of-32 from deep.

The Wizards (5-3) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Grizzlies on Friday. The Raptors (6-3) play host to the Cavs on Friday.
