Lakers Defeat Rockets, 119-117
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the visiting Houston Rockets, 119-117, at Staples Center on Tuesday.

It took eight ties and 13 lead changes to determine a winner in this game, with neither team leading by more than 11 points. That was actually Houston, who blew an 11-point third-quarter lead. That can be attributed to the Lakers outscoring the Rockets in the second half, 55-47. Kevin Porter Jr had a game-winning three-point attempt at the buzzer but was unable to prevail. Both teams shot exactly 52.7 percent from the field in this shootout. Los Angeles went 15-of-20 from the free-throw line while Houston connected on just 5-of-12. The Lakers also out-rebounded the Rockets, 43-38, while forcing 24 turnovers.

The Rockets (1-6) were led by Christian Wood, tallying 26 points, 16 rebounds and three assists. Jalen Green generated 24 points, two rebounds and five assists. Jae'Sean Tate accrued 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks while Porter provided 11 points, five rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

The Lakers (5-3) were led by LeBron James and his 30 points, four rebounds, 10 assists and two steals. Russell Westbrook registered 27 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Anthony Davis accumulated 27 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks. Carmelo Anthony led the bench with 15 points.

Both teams return to action on Thursday, with Houston staying on the road to face the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles remaining home to play the Oklahoma City Thunder.
